What I have a passion for!

This weeks assignment i chose to write about something im passionate for..I love art. Drawing,color,collage,sculpture, anything to do with art..I have won ribbons for my art work since 5th grade and have been to many art shows. What really got me into the whole art thing was my grandma, shes pretty artistic herself and she would always sit down with me and help me color. I do art when im bored, or just need something extra on my walls. Art helps me release feeling and show my creative side..

My Digital Footprints

This weeks blogging challenge was to track your digital footsteps and list some sites you have registered for.

• What sites have you joined?

1. Ive joined Facebook,Twitter, Edublogs, Google, Yahoo, Youtube, Voki, Mixpod… and many many more that i cant remember.

• How much information did you give them when you joined?

1. When i register for an account on a website i usually put my name, state, zip code, email address. Most accounts dont ask your address and i would never put my in the blank.  While i was creating my Facebook account i added my phone number because i have Facebook Mobil but its private to friends only, so i believe that pretty safe because i know all the people i add.

• Have you filled in more than the *asterisk questions?

1. I sometimes fill in more that the asterisk questions because i wont notice that its not required. But i wont put any thing on the account that i feel would be to private like where i live.

• Google your name or nickname but include your town as well.
• What did you find?

1. I found my Facebook account, Twitter, my blog, my sports scores that my school has posted, and my Young Einstein’s competition that i won in elementary school. I also found my Panther projects which is school and art projects that i have won prizes on.

• Are you on the web for sports teams, named in newspapers and where else?

1. Im on the web for sports teams, art shows, and school projects that ive done.

• How many cookies or footprints are you leaving behind?

1. Ive probably have thousands of cookies ive left behind…

Spent

For my blogging assignment this week we were told to play a game called Spent. In this game we were suppose to act out our lives with kids, a job, bills, and other everyday living expenses.

In this game i made it to the end of the month with $16 dollars to my name, a $500 car loan and a $375 electric bill due.

I made some bad and good dissusions in this game. I saved money on my kids expenses, but i also let my bills pile up and got fired because i got my car repossessed.

In this game we were asked to apply for 3 jobs since i failed the typing job i applied for a warehouse worker and got it making $9 dollars an hour. I learned that its not easy living in the real world, but all in all this was a really fun game.

Something thats popular:American Idol

For my assignment this week i picked to talk about something popular. There are lots of popular shows on the air, but the most viewed is American Idol.

American Idol is a show on FOX that airs every Wednesday and Thursday. American Idol gives aspiring singers the chance to be on tv and show the judges (Randy Jackson, Jennifer Lopez, and Steven Tyler) their talent. The judges go to different cities in American and hold auditions.

If the contestants move on they go to Hollywood Week. Which are rounds in the competitions when the contestants do group week, and have to sing songs from a particular artist. From then on, the contestants that have made it past the elimination’s ( top 24) they go on to Vegas. In Vegas the contestants sing each week, and people at home vote for them.

I think people like American Idol because it lets them view some different artist, and sometimes get a good laugh at the people that cant sing.

Movies: yes or no

In my blogging assignment I was asked to talk about my favorite, and least favorite movies.                                             

Favorites:                                                   

• The Titanic- This is a classical, romantic movie about a tragic event. The love between Rose and Jack is strong and you can really feel it when you watch the movie. In this movie you can see discrimination between the classes, and the different levels in which the people on the boat sleep. When i watch this movie i always think about how the crew members, when they were loading the boats, only allowed certain people on the boat, and didnt fill them to the fullest. I think alot of people would have been saved that day if they would have filled the boats.                                                         
• Gnomeo and Juliet- I love this movie, that recently came out because it puts a comedy twist to the old story of Romeo and Juliet. In this movie Gnomeo, who is a blue, and Juliet, who is a red, mistakenly fall in love. The blues and reds have had an endless battle, and when they realize Gnomeo and Juliet have fallen in love, they persist on destroying each yards most valuable possessions. In the end the two gnome tribes believe Gnomeo and Juliet have died in the mist of their epic battle, and when they realized there alive, the two colors come together.                    

Least Favorites:

• The Devils Arithmetic- this movie is based on a book about the holocaust. In this movie a teenage Jewish girl goes back and time and experiences the Holocaust with her future family members there. Its not that i dont necessarily like this movie, but i think its sad because the movie gives a vivid picture of the hangings, gas chambers and abuse there people were put through.

• The Disney Buddy movies- i personally think these movies are horrible. They portray dogs talking and saving the day, and the whole thing is fake. I am not a huge fan of movie where animals talk, but these would have to be the worst.

Teen Tribune

I read an article on Teen Tribune about the First Lady, Michelle Obama and her views about young children having Facebook. Michelle says her two children Sasha 9, and Malia 12 will not be joining the Facebook community anytime soon. She explained on a interview with NBC’s ‘Today Show” that she does not like the idea of young children having Facebook and that her daughters have restrictions other children don’t have because of  Secret Service security issues. She also explained that even if her children didn’t live in the White House she would not let them have Facebook.

How young is too young for Facebook?

Do you think Malia and Sasha should be able to have Facebook?

Groundhogs Day…

Today was Groundhogs Day.

A Groundhog is similar to a Woodchuck. It is in the rodent family belong to a special family known as ground-squirrels. Groundhogs spend most of their lives in their holes under ground.

The tradition is on a cloudy day (February 2) the groundhog will emerge from its burrow and if it sees its shadow there will be six more weeks of winter. If it does not see its shadow, spring will come early that year. The tradition started in German Pennsylvaniain the 18th and 19th centuries. The custom grew into what it is today.

Today, Punxsutawney Phil, the groundhog that has been doing the shadow seeing for a couple years now, did not see his shadow this afternoon, meaning spring will come early this year.
